  • Never use a knife or hard tool to clean the Bottom of your Steam Iron. If you want to double the shelf life of your steam iron than let the bottom be smoother. Do not ever scrap with hard tools.
  • Like other appliances let your iron cool and than you could clean it – Am sure this advice shall be diligently followed to avoid the nasty burns. You could use a damp cloth with ammonia to clean it
  • You could also Clean the insides with vinegar and water. A simple one part vinegar/one part water solution should be added to the reservoir. Once it is added, steam the iron for about five minutes, drain the solution and repeat the process with water only.
  • If you notice a white build up around the steam vent, your iron needs descaling. This is similar to the earlier tip on cleaning the reservoir, but varies a bit. Empty the water in your iron. Turn your iron on to the “cotton” setting.  Make a mixture of one part vinegar to two parts distilled water.  Add the mixture to your iron. Turn the iron off and drain the mixture out. Repeat the process using only distilled water. If there is still a build up, repeat as necessary.

These simple steps can keep your steam iron running great for years to come!
