Dry Iron Vs Steam Iron – Which one would you opt for?

Ironing the wrinkles and creases, gliding through your laundry pile are the Irons. Two different types of irons — steam and dry — can get the job done, but some fabrics are better suited to either one or the other.

Dry Iron

Dry irons are now the old-fashioned, classic type of iron. Its simplicity lies in only having to adjust the temperature of the iron depending upon the type of fabric. The benefit of the dry iron is that as long as it is never left unattended and monitored carefully while in use, it will not likely ever cause harm to your garments. Nowadays, the dry iron can be harder to find and is sometime more expensive. However, for some fabrics, such as silk, dry irons are the only option.

Steam Iron

Steam irons are today’s standard iron; they are quicker, cheaper and easier to find. They also usually have the ability to either be used as a dry iron or a steam iron, depending on the project at hand. Steam irons are known to work quicker to release wrinkles and are more effective on bigger items. They can be more complicated to use than dry irons because you not only adjust the temperature but also the amount of steam being used. Wools will need much more steam than most average items of clothing, for example. However, as with dry irons, steam can damage certain types of fabric and must be monitored carefully.

Take the time to test your iron on different fabrics and types of clothing to determine which setting is best for each. Never use the steam iron on any fabric, especially silk, without checking the tag to see what can and cannot be used for each article of clothing.

Don’t forget to follow these simple steps and choose the right IRON for your fabric. Still confused? You could visit http://www.vinodcookware.com and get more info to help you take the right decision.

How to be extra careful while using Appliances?

It’s always good to take some extra care. Here’s How 🙂

  1. Never mix water and electricity: The most important and crucial always keep your appliances away from water. Even if your appliances are unplugged follow the pattern. If you have dropped the wire/chord into water DO not plug it. Once the device has dried thoroughly, have an electrician evaluate whether or not it’s fit for continued use.
  2. Pay attention to what your appliances are telling you: When you tend to have continuous complaints of shocks, circuit breaker trips etc it’s a clear sign something is wrong with your appliance. Stop the usage of it as it might lead to some severe malfunctions. Discontinue until shown to the service centers.
  3. Protect kids with outlet covers:  Keep your kids away from the Outlet covers. Don’t let them stick their finger or any object into the Outlet, to protect them from shock or electrocution. You can either use the plug-in type, or opt for special child safety wall plates, which feature built-in, retractable covers that automatically snap back into place when outlets aren’t in use
  4. Be kind to you cords:Take care to treat power cords gently – never nail or tightly tack them down, and regularly check to make sure that they’re not pinched between or underneath furniture. Excessive pressure on power cables can damage insulation (exposing the conductor), or compress the conducting wire, which can lead to overheating and put you at risk for an electrical fire.
